Coaches,
I have good news and bad news. The weather for Saturday is supposed to be very nice.
If you can at all reply to this email, please do and let me know if you are bringing a team bus or team vans. This will help
me pre-prepare in the morning for bus parking. If your athletes will be coming individually with parents, etc, please let me
know that also; but, you might encourage your athletes to get with parents tonight to try and car-pool as much as possible.
The bad news is that the grass parking areas are just soggy enough that it is recommended that we
not open the course today (Friday) for parking. As I mentioned in a previous email, because this is a public park, I do
not have the ability to close the actual course down and you might run just as anyone in the general public is allowed
to do. The downside is that parking is very limited near the course without opening up the gates for the parking fields.
If you do come, be sure to plan in advance for a lack of parking (drop off's ?) --- Basically, be very careful if you come.
Officially, I am telling you it might be best to avoid the course today (friday)- (it is wet out there on the course). It will be very well marked for the race tomorrow so your athletes won't get lost during the race. It isn't really muddy, but definitely wet.
Also, the course won't be very well marked until late in the afternoon while I wait for the
ground to dry up just enough to get paint down.
THE GOOD NEWS is that we are expecting mid-60's and a mix of sun & clouds in the morning. Busses will
be limited to parking very close to the gravel drive of the main parking lot. Regular car parking should be OK but
there will be places soggy toward the edges that will be closed to parking. I highly suggest car-pooling because the
parking that will be available might be limited to about 150 cars in the main lot (we have 550 athletes in the meet).
It will be first-come, first-serve parking unless you have a bus or team van.
Thanks for your understanding so that we don't have to cancel for fear of expensive damage repair charges.
Jim K.
